They wear the third paint scheme applied to them during their lives on the Milwaukee Road. An EMD GP9 (also known as a "Dash 9" for short) is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1954 and August 1963. 3,436 examples of this locomotive model were built for American railroads.
