This box car red 50’ rib side box car FMC plug door with no roofwalk with large white Norfolk Southern “speed” herald on left, white lettering and SOU reporting marks and runs on black roller bearing trucks. This box car was built April 1981 as class BS 204 and is from a fleet of 176 cars. The NS stenciled individual car assignments on its freight cars for ownership reference and this group belongs to the Southern (SOU). The Norfolk Southern Corporation is a holding company that resulted from the 1982 merger of the Norfolk & Western and the Southern Railway. Those roads were the surviving companies of Wabash, Nickel Plate, Central of Georgia, Virginian, CNO & TP and others.
