This aluminum 40’ despatch stock car with single door has UP Armour Yellow sides with black lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. This class S-40-10 car was originally built May of 1926 and rebuilt September 1934. When the Livestock Dispatch service was created to expedite stock to market, the U.P. repainted the cars April of 1947 at the roads’ Omaha shops. This fleet of 300 rebuilds was assigned to that service. The cars were seen in operation into the mid 60s still wearing their original paint. The car works for the Oregon Short Line which is a subsidiary of the Union Pacific.
